What is FTC?

FIRST Tech Challenge — robotics competition for students in grades 7–12.

The Challenge

Each season, FIRST releases a new game in September. Teams design, build, and program a robot to compete in a specific game objective, with matches played on a 12×12 ft field. This season's game is BIOBUZZ presented by RTX, a pollination-themed challenge in which alliances collect POLLEN and NECTAR and use them at the HIVE, FLOWERS, and GARDENS.

The Season

The 2026–27 season kicked off on September 12, 2026. Teams compete at league meets and qualifying tournaments starting in late October, advance to regional championships, and top teams qualify for the FIRST Championship (April 28 – May 1, 2027).

Skills Developed

Students gain hands-on experience in mechanical engineering, electrical systems, programming (Java/Kotlin), CAD design, project management, and teamwork.

More Than Robots

FTC awards points not just for on-field performance but also for engineering documentation, outreach, and gracious professionalism — FIRST's core value of competing with integrity.
